Professional Ethic: Integrity - is doing the right thing when no one is watching.

Image
One professional ethic that one can always live by is integrity. Integrity involves being honest, ethical, and transparent in all aspects of your professional life. It means doing the right thing even when no one is watching and being accountable for your actions. Integrity builds trust with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders and helps to create a positive and respectful work environment. By upholding integrity, one can maintain their reputation and credibility, leading to better opportunities and relationships in both personal and professional life.

One Study Challenge

Image
Time management has been one study challenge I might have faced during the Moreland Teach-Now program. The program requires a significant time commitment to complete coursework, participate in online discussions, and complete practicum requirements. I found it challenging to balance my existing work or personal responsibilities with the demands of the program. To overcome this challenge, I created a schedule that prioritises my time and sets aside dedicated blocks for completing coursework and participating in online discussions. I also communicated with my peers and instructors to ensure I am on track and seek support if needed. Time management skills are essential for teachers, and the Teach-Now program offers an opportunity to develop and refine these skills.

Hobbies: Dancing and Travelling

Image
Dancing and travelling are two hobbies that bring joy and excitement to people's lives. Dancing is a physical activity that can provide a great workout and a creative outlet for expression and artistry. Whether it's ballroom, salsa, or hip hop, there is a dance style that suits everyone's taste. Dancing also has social benefits, allowing individuals to connect with others with the same passion. On the other hand, travelling offers a chance to explore new places, experience different cultures, and broaden one's perspective. It provides an opportunity to learn about history, taste exotic foods, and make lasting memories. Whether it's a backpacking trip through Europe, a beach vacation in the Caribbean, or a cultural tour of Asia, travelling can be a transformative experience. Both dancing and travelling require a willingness to step outside of one's comfort zone and embrace new experiences. They can be a way to unwind from the stresses of everyday life and provide

Overcoming Stereotypes Activity Plan

Image
Canva Document Overcoming stereotypes involves challenging and changing preconceived notions and prejudices towards individuals or groups based on their culture, ethnicity, gender, or learning differences. Stereotyping can lead to discrimination, biases, and negative attitudes, impacting individuals' well-being and opportunities. To overcome stereotypes, individuals can self-reflect, learn about different cultures and perspectives, and actively seek out diverse experiences and relationships. Education and awareness are key to challenging and changing stereotypes. Through communication, empathy, and an open-minded approach, individuals can break down barriers and build more inclusive and accepting communities.

SEL classroom Scavenger Hunt

Image
This SEL classroom scavenger hunt aims to encourage students to engage in acts of kindness and to focus on doing good deeds for others. As students complete each activity, they will experience the positive feelings that come with helping others, which can be a reward in itself.   Canva Link: https://www.canva.com/design/DAFi4pur6nI/tVB06gADA1ZjungpV75Kbg/edit?utm_content=DAFi4pur6nI&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

Brain Science meets Artificial Intelligence

Image
The 16th International Conference on Brain Informatics (BI 2023) Neuroscience and Society As a science educator, I would find the 16th International Conference on Brain Informatics (BI'23) an exciting opportunity to learn about the latest brain research and artificial intelligence developments. The conference provides a platform for researchers and practitioners from diverse fields to present their original research results and exchange innovative ideas. The theme of the conference, "Brain Science Meets Artificial Intelligence," is particularly intriguing as it addresses the interplay between cognitive science, neuroscience, machine learning, data science, and ICT. I would enjoy attending the conference to gain insights into the latest research in cognitive and computational foundations of brain science, human information processing systems, brain big data analytics, informatics paradigms for brain and mental health research, and brain-machine intelligence. The conferen

Making sense of scents: Deciphering our sense of smell

Image
Scientists at the University of California - San Francisco (UCSF) have created the first molecular-level, 3D picture of how an odour molecule activates a human odorant receptor, a crucial step  in deciphering the sense of smell. They used cryo-electron microscopy to visualise how a scent molecule binds to the OR51E2 receptor, which responds to propionate and contributes to the pungent smell of Swiss cheese. The study is significant for fragrance, food science, and other applications that rely on olfactory receptors. The team is developing more efficient techniques to study other odorant-receptor pairs and understand the non-olfactory biology associated with the receptors. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2023/03/230315132416.htm
